Framekits
Nielsen Framekits offer the flexibility and appearance of a custom frame at a ready-made price! Framekit packages include one pair of frame sides of a given length. Two packages make one frame. Packages include all required assembly hardware, though wire is not included. See our very detailed article How to Assemble a Metal Sectional Frame. And an overview video is available. Sizes Framekits are available in sizes from 8" up to 40" in one inch increments. Each Framekit is cut with a little "allowance," about an 1/16" bigger than the labeled size to allow for easy assembly. Profiles
Framekits are available in one of two profiles, either#11 or Accents. Please note the depth that each frame can accomodate. Often times, a thinner backing board with an 1/8" thickness is appropriate, depending on the number of mats and type of glazing material you decide to use. Framekits will not fit a standard size stretcher bar such as those used on painted canvases. Colors
All the colors have a high polish, except Matte Black and Black (Painted) which have matte finishes. All finishes are very durable anodized finishes, except the Black (Painted) which can chip if mishandled. Note: All color swatches depicted on this web site are best approximations from a computer monitor. Quality The finish on a Framekit is of equal quality to that of Nielsen's professional framing line of highly respected mouldings. Framekits are less expensive by virtue of the volume that are manufactured plus they are extruded with slightly thinner walls than that of Nielsen's professional framing mouldings. Their strength, however, is more than adequate for almost all applications. (If you are going to be dropping them on a repeated basis, that may be another story!) We sell the Framekits at an everyday discount of 50% off of suggested list price per package of a pair of lengths. Two packages make one frame.
Stock We stock all available manufactured Framekits—every style and size. Other Necessities Our full service framing department can cut any required materials for you. If you need glass, backing boards or matting for your Framekit, our shop aims to please and usually can cut the required materials while you wait. |
